Ian has worked for 30 years in a variety of roles in the U.S. Healthcare System. He began his career as a Certified Public Accountant and quickly moved into the operations, technology and strategy areas at national payers, a third-party administrator, a home health and hospice provider, and a variety of suppliers to both payers and providers. Ian has spent the majority of his career driving consumer, provider, and employee experience improvements and improving administrative efficiency in his roles as Chief Operations Officer at BlueCross BlueShield North Carolina, Senior Vice President of Health Plan Operations at Regence BlueCross BlueShield, and President of Administrative Operations at Elara Caring. For almost 10 years, Ian has been involved with the Healthcare Executive Group (“HCEG”) and is currently on the Board where he holds the role of Treasurer. Ian has been and continues to be an advocate for addressing the determinants of individual happiness (often referred to as social determinants of health) and supporting caregivers. In addition, he has been an active member and Board Chairman of Habitat for Humanity organizations in both North Carolina and Oregon.
Ian currently resides in Colorado with his wife, near his grandsons little Ian and Zeke. He spends a good portion of his time investing in and advising several start-up companies and former employees. Ian is an avid cyclist and just last summer completed a bucket list item of riding his bicycle from the coast of Oregon to the beaches of North Carolina.
